In the biological sense, an animal, or human is one who has fully developed. In the context of humans adults have implications that are based on social and legal concepts. Legally mature means that a person is at the point of maturity. They are considered independent, self sufficient and accountable. They are also known as a "major". The age of 18 is an adult legal age but the definition of adulthood can vary by country, legal rights or the development of a person's psychological.

In the lifespan of a human being, adulthood refers to the age at which he or she attains full mental and physical maturity. Typically, the age of adulthood is around the age of 21, or 20. Mid-life, beginning approximately 40 years of age then follows by the age of 60 years. The adulthood process is split into three distinct stages beginning with early adulthood (18-mid-30s), mid-30s-mid-60s, and the final stage of adulthood, mid-60s to end of life. Early adulthood is the stage of physical maturity that we are at when we attain the age of 20 to 40 years old. The size and weight of our bodies can, however, slightly grow. As we enter our early twenties, our physical abilities are at their highest levels. They include strength of muscles and speed of reaction.
